Statement

Born in Birmingham in 1962 I am a self taught artist who has drawn and painted since childhood. Even from those early years I have always tried to capture as much detail as the eye can see. I hope that the viewer can return to one of my paintings and see something not previously noticed, which I feel extends the enjoyment of the piece. Wherever possible I try to use pure colour rather than mixing, which helps to give the painting a bold, eye catching and vibrant feel.  
 
As I work mostly in oil, (though sometimes in pastel) my paintings can often take several months to complete as I have to wait for the paint to dry before overlaying further detail, which helps to add depth to the image. I also try to achieve as exciting a perspective as possible so that it feels as though one were directly in front of the object or the scene. Much of my work has a strongly British theme as I enjoy celebrating Britain's achievement and contribution to the world in my art. I hope that you enjoy them.
