STATEMENT
Since graduating from Loughborough University with
a Ba Hons degree in Illustration in 2002, Laura has worked as a
Freelance Illustrator. Commissions include a series of safety posters
and booklets for an engineering company and educational friezes for a
London publishers, as well as private portrait and painting commissions.
Laura has also worked on community projects such as
children’s workshops, being a ‘visiting artist’ to schools and most
recently has created a Memory Mural with residents at a home for older
people.
The media used in the work is mixed, but acrylic is
the main medium, into which are worked inks, wax crayon and pencil. The
surface of the piece is built up to be rich in detail and texture.
