Statement
I had attended many good evening art classes until a college tutor
suggested I apply to Warwickshire College, Leamington, where I studied
full time under some excellent teachers, obtaining first a Certificate
and then a Diploma in Higher Education, Fine Art in 2001, after which I
graduated with a good Fine Art degree in 2002 from UCE Birmingham (now
Birmingham University).
I found contemporary art quite absorbing and learned many
other things along the way. I am still practicing and enjoy other
ways of making including painting, a life-long interest, and wood
carving. Recently a small carving was accepted and has now become
part of the long history of London’s Charterhouse (open to the public)
in an outside alcove in Washouse Court.
My sculptural
work concerns growth and form, environmental issues especially
man-versus nature and the nature of man. Often unconventional, wherever
possible, the use of recycled material preferred. I am also interested in
time, natural patterns and the surety that all matter eventually returns
to the turning circle of nature.
